Welcome to Happy Dead Trees for all things reading, writing, and books. We are committed to finding and promoting unknown, or under-appreciated, authors, books, and stories.

As a service to site visitors we host directories of bookstores and used book sales - because people who love books become nervous when they aren't sure where their next book is coming from. (Along the way we will also write about book awards, new books from well known authors, and just about anything else of a literary nature that happens to capture our collective interest at any given moment.) 

Our current focus is on launching the Where To Donate Book Section, Used Book Sales Directory, and Bookstore Directory. We are working to update and correct errors in all areas of the website - if you spot an error, and you are a member of Happy Dead Trees, please report the problem through the "Report a Problem" link in the User Menu. If you are not a member, please report errors viat the contact us link which can be found at the top and bottom of just about every page.

Our Current Offerings:

Where to Donate Books - a listing of libraries and other nonprofit organizations that accept book donations. Free listings for all libraries and other nonprofits.

Used Book Sales Directory - a compilation of periodic used book sales held by libraries and other nonprofits - representatives of any library or nonprofit are welcome to place their free listing in this directory. If sales are held weekly, or more often, the listing should go in the Bookstore Directory.

Writing Contests - contests for both children and adults. No entry fees for any of the contests. Cash prizes awarded in some.

Bookstore Directory - bookstores of all types. Free listings for both nonprofit and for non-profit bookstores.

Author pages - we will soon offer authors the ability to post their own dedicated pages here on Happy Dead Trees. In the meantime we have pages dedicated to authors chosen for the honor of a profile by the staff of Happy Dead Trees - these pages are not affiliated in any way with the authors profiled.

Book Awards - this portion of the site is currently undergoing a major renovation, but we do have a huge list of past winners of many major - and many, many, minor - book awards.
