Quick Tips:

Descriptive Title - don't write a paragraph here, but try to add some details. AAUW Book Sale is less useful than Trenton AAUW 23rd Annual Book Sale.

Sale Photo - prepare photos for upload by reducing the file size. Smaller files upload to our site faster and will allow your sale listing to load faster for site visitors.

Sale Hours Each Day - do not add extra details in this section. Details belong in the Sale Details section (hence the name).

Sale Details - you should include all information that appears on your sale flier. Don't hesitate to get a bit long-winded.

Address - test the address in Google maps before entering in the Add a Used Book Sale Form. If the address doesn't generate a map in Google Maps, it won't make one on our site, and your listing will have an ugly error message.

How to List a Nonprofit Used Book Sale at Happy Dead Trees:

• Register as a member.

• After registration is complete, log in to the site.

• Next, click on the Book Sales tab at the top of the page.

• When you're on the Book Sales page you'll see several links that lead to the "list a sale" form - choose a link and fill out the form.

Step-by-Step Instructions: (Items in the form marked with a red asterisk are required.)

Descriptive Title - if you run book sales for the Davetown Library, don't just say Davetown Library Sale, try something like Davetown Library Annual Spring Booksale.

Category - choose the state in which the sale the will be held. (You will be asked for the State again in the form. This is required because the State has to be listed in the actual sale listing, and it can't be taken from the category.)

Sale Photo - reduce the file size of the photo prior to upload, it may not work if the file is too huge. The smaller the size of the photo, the faster your listing page will load.

State - this has to be filled out even though it appears to have been covered in the Category selection. When you enter the state name in this section of the form it appears in a different part of the finished listing.

City - simply enter the name of the town or city in which the sale is being held. This entry will become searchable from within the main book sale page.

Month of Sale - if the sale begins in one month and ends in another, choose the starting month.

Number of Books in the Sale - select the range that is closest to your estimate of the number of books in your sale. This figure doesn't have to be exact, but try to get as close as possible.

Sale Start Date - lets people see start date in brief form.

Sale End Date - lets people see end date in brief form.

Percentage of Books Ex-Library - just give your best estimate. Err on the high side. Nobody ever complained about getting to a sale and finding out that 10% of the books were ex-library, but plenty of people have compained when they attend a sale expecting all donated books, and find 50% ex-library.

Sale Hours Each Day - please provide exact dates, days of the week, and hours the sale will be held. Many potential customers will appreciate finding this information in a single convenient location.

Sale Details - all of the details that would normally go in a sale flier. Please provide as much detail as possible including prices, bag sale information, and even presale information. (Presale information has a separate section, but a lot of people don't bother reading a listing with a lot of attention to detail.)

Presale - simple yes or no option.

Presale Details - if you said yes to the preceding question, this is the spot to add details. For example, who can attend, if it is members only, what is the price to join.

Sale Location - test the address in Google prior to entering it in the form. The address is used to produce a map and if the address is incorrect your listing will have an ugly error message.

Website of Sale Sponsor - link to your organization's website. If you don't have a website you can link to your listing in our Where to Donate Books section. Instructions on listing in the Where to Donate Book Section can be found here.

More Information Email - if there is someone who can be contacted directly via email for more information about the sale, please provide the email here. The email will not be directly visible on the website and cannot be seen until a site visitor clicks on the email link.
