The Guardian First Book Award is given by the Guardian Newspaper of England. "The Guardian first book award was established in 1999 to reward the finest new literary talent with a £10,000 prize for an author's first book." The book can be fiction or nonfiction. We also include the Guardian Award for first fiction which was awarded from 1965 to 1998. For some reason the Guardian website doesn't mention the original fiction award.
