Book Awards

Soon to be one of the largest lists of English language book awards available anywhere - I base this claim on an exhaustive ten minute search of Google, so I must be right. The goal is to be the largest and most up-to-date book award site on the Internet. We aren't there yet, but we'll get there.

The Frederick Jackson Turner Award is given annually "by the Organization of American Historians for an author's first book on some significant phase of American history . . ." The award is named in honor of - believe it or not - Frederick Jackson Turner, and carries an award of $1000.

Guardian First Book Award Print E-mail

  

The latest winner of the Guardian First Book Award is featured below along with a complete list of all past winners, and a link to our index of all book awards and prizes featured on Happy Dead Trees.

The Guardian First Book Award is given by the Guardian Newspaper of England. "The Guardian first book award was established in 1999 to reward the finest new literary talent with a £10,000 prize for an author's first book." The book can be fiction or nonfiction. We also include the Guardian Award for first fiction which was awarded from 1965 to 1998. For some reason the Guardian website doesn't mention the original fiction award.
