The Arthur Ellis Awards are given by the Crime Writers of Canada for the best crime and mystery writing by Canadian authors. Award categories include best novel, best debut novel, nonfiction and juvenile. The Arthur Ellis Awards are named after the working "nom de travail" of Canada's official hangman — which is a great way to name an award.
