Walt WhitmanMay 31, 1819 to March 26, 1892 Born in Huntington Station, New York & Died in Camden, New Jersey Whitman is to American poetry what Clemens is to American prose. They are both touchstones by which every other American in the same line of work is judged. The primary difference is that there have been American Poets who have come within shouting distance of Walt Whitman.
Quote"I am larger, better than I thought, I did not know I held so much goodness."
