Hunter, Evan Print E-mail

Ed McBain and Evan Hunter (birth name Salvatore A. Lombino)

October 15, 1926 to July 7, 2005

Born in New York City & Died in Weston, Connecticut

Ed McBain was the greatest writer of police procedurals and he invented the genre as it is now practiced. Evan Hunter was overshadowed by his alter ego's success, but shouldn't have been. As McBain or Hunter the man was brilliant.

Quote

"That's like Michelangelo watching an apprentice paint in the white of an eye."  Evan Hunter on why he didn't read his so-called competitors.

Quotes Great Quotations - in our humble opinion

"The advantage of the animal over the vegetable kingdom is obvious. The cabbage, should its environment tend to become worse, must live it out, or die; the rabbit may move on in quest of a better."
